A victim of a bomb blast who completely lost her sight a decade ago due to a terrorist attack, Ashcharya continues to pursue her dream by creating the most amazing of designs.

She creates elaborate dresses by describing her detailed designs to the tailors. Her heightened sense of touch allows her to feel her creations and differentiate between materials to ensure that the outcome matches her concept.

Now having adjusted to life without sight, Ashcharya says she “can imagine by touch” and use sensory memories to create each ornate piece of her collection.

“I do what an ordinary designer does with a pencil, a paper and graphic designing software, but with my mind and heart, trusting in God to show me what I cannot see” says Ashcharya. “I don’t let little things get me down as I look up to God who chooses the weak to put to shame those who are strong. I have many reasons to thank God every day for this amazing gift .

Ashcharya wants to use her special vision to pursue her dream and to inspire others too ‘It’s about showing people what they can do with what they have, rather than thinking they are alone or thinking about what they’ve lost.’
